Magnet Recognition
Spartanburg Regional Medical Center is among the nation’s top three percent of hospitals for excellence in nursing, according to the American Nurses Association.


Awarded Magnet Status from the prestigious Magnet Recognition Program, Spartanburg Regional is the first hospital in South Carolina to be recognized as a national leader in nursing services by the group’s American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes quality patient care and nursing excellence, providing consumers with the ultimate benchmark to measure a hospital’s quality of care.

Commission on Cancer Approval and Outstanding Achievement Award
Spartanburg Regional’s Oncology program has received approval with commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, placing it among an elite group of programs providing cancer care across the nation. Only 25 percent of all hospitals are Commission on Cancer approved. Of those 25 percent, less than half receive the additional honor of being approved with commendation. In addition, the Commission on Cancer has also named Spartanburg Regional as a recipient of its 2012 Outstanding Achievement Award.
National Cancer Institute's Community Cancer Centers Program
Gibbs Cancer Center was selected by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as a launch site for the three-year pilot phase of its Community Cancer Centers program. The program will help bring state-of-the-art cancer care to patients in community hospitals across the United States.
Member of M. D. Anderson Physicians Network
Gibbs Cancer Center is the exclusive local host affiliate of M. D. Anderson Physicians Network®. Affirming our exceptional quality of patient care, the affiliation gives our physicians access to the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center’s evidence-based guidelines.
Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center
The Spartanburg Regional Chest Pain Center was reaccredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Having received initial accreditation in December 2003, the Regional Chest Pain Center was the first in South Carolina to be accredited. In November 2006, the Chest Pain Center received full Cycle II accreditation with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from the Accreditation Review Committee.
Spirit of Women® Hospital
Spartanburg Regional was the first hospital in South Carolina to join the Spirit of Women network. The Spirit of Women hospital network is a coalition of hospitals and healthcare facilities in more than 60 U.S. cities who are committed to women’s health.
Primary Stroke Center
Our Stroke Center, the first accredited program in the state, is now certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program.
Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence
Spartanburg Regional has been named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS). Accreditation through ASBS is the gold standard for bariatric surgery programs in the United States. In fact, less than 140 hospitals across the nation have earned this designation, which represents the delivery of quality care before, during and after bariatric surgery. Spartanburg Regional is one of only six Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence in South Carolina.
Accredited Sleep Center
The Spartanburg Regional Sleep Center is one of the most experienced sleep facilities in the country and is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is the leader in setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education and research.
ISO 9001 Certified Lab
Spartanburg Regional has the Upstate's only ISO 9001 certified lab. ISO 9001 is an international quality standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a worldwide federation of national standards bodies representing some 130 countries.
